VETERAN AFFAIRS

SPONSOR A VETERAN
The EAC of Alameda, in conjunction with the State of California’s Employment Development Department, is dedicated to supporting job seekers who have served their country through military service.
The community of employer members of the EAC seek to identify opportunities within their own organizations which leverage the unique skill sets and attributes of our veterans.
Employers can utilize the many programs of the EDD and its federal partner, the U.S. Department of Labor Veterans Employment Program.
The EAC of Alameda provides a venue for both veteran job seekers and employers, who wish to hire veterans, an opportunity to share employment objectives and opportunities.
EDD has services for many of our veterans who qualify for extended case management services including:
- Comprehensive Assessment of education, skills, and abilities.
- Employability development plan to identify employment goals, interim objectives, and appropriate services that will enable the veteran to meet his or her employment goals.
- In depth interviewing and evaluation to identify employment barriers and appropriate employment goals.
- Group and individual career coaching.
The EAC and the EDD works together to encourage businesses to promote and secure employment and training for veterans. This include sponsoring job and career fairs, informing federal contractors of the state and federal requirement to register and enter job openings in CalJOBS and obtaining veterans to fill those vacancies.
The EAC, from time to time, will invite members of our local veteran community to share their stories with the EAC membership.
